You've picked your date, you've reserved your hall, and now you want to select your entertainment. If you are like most couples, the importance of entertainment for your reception is low. According to sources like The Knot, USA Today, National Bridal Magazine, and Simmons Research, BEFORE the wedding, brides rank the importance of entertainment at 9th place. But AFTER the wedding, the couple discovers that the key to a successful reception is a well-trained professional entertainer, and ranked entertainment 1st.

Choose Your Service Carefully

So, how do you select the right one for you? Here are six important things you can do to help choose the right one for your special day:

	Ask around, ask your friends, relatives, and co-workers. There is bound to be someone you know that has used a DJ before. This is a good start.
	Ask people in the wedding industry. Ask your photographer, florist, caterer, the hall manager or anyone else involved in your wedding. These professionals have seen and worked with most of the entertainers in town. Ask them who they recommend, and remember, a professional will recommend someone they trust.
	Make sure your DJ is a business - Do they have business license? Do they have proper insurances? How long have they been in business? Do they belong to any trade groups? Do they use properly licensed music?
	Interview your final choices. Go to their place of business and ask questions. Bridal magazines and websites, such as the knot, often have lists of questions to ask.
	Have you seen their work? Unless you have attended an event where the DJ has performed, sometimes this can be a problem, but at the very least, the entertainer should have a video of their services.
	Ask for referrals. Get names of previous clients, and if possible, call them. Ask questions: Were they professional? Did they do what they promised? Did they listen to their needs. Would they use them again?
